Take it Further challenge
Last year I joined in Take a Stitch Tuesday from SharonB. I started, I made my stitches more than 20 weeks, but then I went to hospital and I never came back. I am sorry about it.
For 2008 there is another challenge: Take it Further. I hesitated to join it, but now I decided YES. I want to be there. One topic for one month, it could be not so difficult for me.
Maybe I will go succesfully through all year, maybe I fail. But anyway it is chance to learn something, to see works from other people.

Knitted art
REcently I dicovered knitting art by Mafuyu Murakami, japan ilustrator, that use knitting needles and yarns to make real art.
Interview with Mafuyu you can read here.
I love knitting, but I still knit more functional things like pullovers or scarfs. And I admire people they can skip limitation of practical using and make something like Mafuyu.

I have not been here
I have not been here several weeks. I have more internet projects, most of them in Czech language and I wanted to concentrate to them. And I have been on holiday with my dear boyfriend, my sister and her twins. You can see pictures on my picasa-gallery.
We spent our holiday in west part of Czech republic. Nice pond, forest, some trips by train, we was on traditional festival in Domazlice.
Embroidery on my pictures is part of traditional clothing near Domazlice in previous centuries. I love it!

1. international Patchwork Exhibition in Prague
Several weeks ago I visited international exhibition of patchwork, that was - for the first time - organised in Prague. Patchwork has no tradition in our country, but it become very popular lately. Exhibition was prepared by Bohemia Patchwork Club and I think they make really good job. I took some pictures and you can see them in my gallery.

Take a stitch Tuesday Challenge week 15 - Oyster stitch
I made this bag to carry all thing I need during weekend with my friends. It is really big: 60x60 cm or 24x24 inches.
Material: old jeans worn by me or by my darling.
Lining: blue cotton.
Sun=pocket: white cotton cloth, tie-dyed in yellow. Face is painted and sunrays are embroidered - you can see detail on the third picture.
Can you imagine how heavy is the bag when full of different thing including books?

This is oyster stitch, my homework from Sharon during TAST. It was hard for me to learn this stitch.

TAST week 12 - Couching
For this stich I use knitting yarns. They are thick and they have often very nice effects. Probably I could add some beads.

Barred chain stitch - TAST week 10
I am a little behind with TAST, because I have to spend several days in hospital. I want to finish all stitches this week.
This sample of barred chain stitch was made on hand painted cotton cloth. I combined chain stich with bared chain stitch and add some small dots to make the stitch more interesting.

TAST - cross stitch
Task for TAST for this week: cross stitch. It seemed to me common and trivial, so I add some more different stitches. On first picture I started with red cross stitches in three dimensiones. Then I made some green and black stitches to make central composition.
Second piece: only one cross stitch in the centre.
Third one: I started with red, again only several cross stitches.
I used cross stitch many times before TAST, you can see my older works below. I especially love the last one, it looks like patchwokr, but it is cross stitch on whole surface of fabric.

TAST - fly stitch

First rows of pink fly stitch were simple, only to let my hands to learn how to move. then I twisted them and change color - green. I love this wavy effect.
Two rows of same stitch in opposite direction and different color. It looks like chain.
Then I wanted to try to make stitches very close and I use for it cotton yarn, that has different shadows of violet color.
Even more close stitches...
Again green. And red, it is great accent.

TAST - feather stitch
Another week, another stitch from Sharon and her Take a Stitch Tuesday.
I was familiar with this stitch already because last year I finished big textile thing called Big Ben where I used a lot of this stitch. Big Ben is made on black silk with batting because I really love that plastic efect you can achieve.
Sampler for this week is again on silk, dyed in yellow and red. This piece of silk was made several ago by my younger son. Again I used batting. I wanted to make something like flowers but in non natural colours. It still looks unfinished, it needs some accent. Probably something brown or dark green... donot know at the moment.
